Privacy: what stays on the device

Everything stays on your phone or iPad: your money and prices, lists, cards, the pictures you picked, and the set-up. There is no account and no sign-in, and nothing tracks what you do.

Nothing a student taps is recorded — not which card, not when, not where it hurts.

My class 🔗

Only on a device that follows a class. The app downloads the class's page, with its pictures and videos. To do that it sends only the class code — and, like any website, the device's internet address. While Simplify is on screen, it keeps listening for a new page from the coach, again with only the class code: no account, no ID for the device, nothing written back. Nothing the student types or taps is sent, and nobody — not even the coach — can see who has the app open.

A YouTube video loads nothing until someone taps it. After the tap, YouTube (Google) gets the device's internet address and which video is watched.

The short videos on the help menu (Watch) load nothing until someone taps one. After the tap, Google's servers get the device's internet address, as for any website.

Shared devices 🔗

Sharing an iPad or phone with other people? Tap the round ✕ at the top right of each tool you used when you finish. Then the next person starts with empty boxes. Keep personal details, like a stop near home, off a shared iPad.

The pictures 🔗

Many pictures come from Noto Emoji by Google, used under the Apache License 2.0 (licence). The Singapore ones — the HDB block, the bus, the MRT train, the tray return and more — are drawn for Simplify.
