No microphone on your keyboard?

The microphone belongs to your keyboard, not to this app. Find your phone or keyboard below and follow the steps.

iPhone or iPad 🔗

  1. Tap the microphone next to the space bar.
  2. If it is not there, open Settings. Tap General, then Keyboard, then turn on Enable Dictation.
  3. Using a different keyboard, like Gboard? Only Apple's own keyboard has a microphone. Press and hold the 🌐 key and choose it from the list.

Gboard (most Android phones) 🔗

  1. Look at the row of small buttons just above the letters. Tap the round microphone at the right end.
  2. If it is not there, open your phone's Settings. Tap Apps, then Gboard, then Permissions, then Microphone. Tap Allow.

Samsung keyboard 🔗

  1. Look at the row of small buttons just above the letters. Tap the microphone.
  2. If you cannot see that row, press and hold the comma key next to the space bar.
  3. To switch it on, open Settings. Tap General management, then Samsung Keyboard settings, then Voice input.

Microsoft SwiftKey 🔗

  1. Tap the microphone on the row above the letters, or press and hold the comma key.
  2. To switch it on, open the SwiftKey app. Tap Rich input, then Voice input key.

The first time you tap the microphone, your phone may ask whether the keyboard can listen. Tap While using the app.

💡 You never have to use the microphone. Typing the number always works.
